Thanks a Pile Hannaford
I've been a loyal Hannaford shopper for years. And what do they do to reward me? Why they retain my credit card number but do not take adequate security measures to protect it.
I have a question. Why do these places retain your credit card number for YEARS after a purchase? I had to switch my credit card number after the DSW debacle (you know, the one where they told us about it on the news in January, but I didn't receive a notice from DSW until 7 months after my card number was stolen).
Seriously though, once my card has been approved and they get their money, why isn't my card number destroyed??
I'm supposed to get groceries after work today and I usually love using my Discover because I get decent cash back each month. But today I'm considering stopping at the bank and getting cash. I feel so dirty.

I should probably be more scared of this type of thing. I use my Debit card almost exclusively. And everywhere - gas, groceries, dining out, McD's, pizza orders over the phone, online. Oh well, I don't have much money anyway. They'd be lucky to get a couple of bucks.
No, they really should make these things more secure, somehow. Not storing things would be a good start. Like not storing your expiration date, once they get the authorization, they can drop the expiration.
