It's not the prettiest thing in the world (and not cuz of the dogshit), but I guess you could say it's representative of the ugliness of the new release.
I love it and am featuring it on my blob too!

Found this banner through arbed...love it! I do believe I'll use it, too.
Oooh... If I weren't such a fan of my current banner, I'd totally use it. Later today if I get the time I'll make a little square one to put in my profile spot.
Keep your XKCD banner, I love that!! :-D

I do love that Vox has always taken user feedback into consideration. I hope they continue to listen to the community on this one.

I doubt it. They want more page views and this craptacular design seems to be based around that. I had to LOL at their response about people not wanting drop down menus. I have yet to see one person say that....

RE: drop down menus...I didn't care for them at first but then I began to rely very heavily on them. They were a huge time saver. That and the old homepage seem to be the biggest sticking points.

As others have noted, these guys do need the advertising bucks, but we're the ones supplying the content. Without the content they'd have nothing to advertise. I can see why they want to please the advertisers, but if they start crapping this place up any more they're going to lose a lot of content providers.

I've seen backlashes to some of their updates before, but nothing quite like this, they really can't afford to ignore the feedback this time.
